PLASTIC BUDDHIST

even
when
lost
with
exhaustion - my reason drained
             out
             of
             my
             pores
  my
  mind
  stays
  on
  Batshit Overdrive . . .

my blinks visions of sci fi impossibility

my dreams rural videogame lunacy

i
should spend more time
in
my
belly -

it
is
the
centre
of
me

  after all

THE LONG ROAD TO EUSTON

i
was
flung
undone
into a piss-alley valley
of
steel and glass
and
small dark parks
and
i smelt the danger
plainer and stronger
than the oil stink
of
the
chip shop wind
blowing on meat wagons
and
danger-stranger cabs
and
the
bottle shops teemed with tension
box fresh trainers
take-away boys
and
steamed henchman
and
i only wanted scotch
in
a
late night pre fight high street
reaching
chuck-out o clock
at
the
graffiti stops
of
worn red stools
and
tall cocktail fools
and
old ale drinkers swore at their angry dogs
and
i
was
drunk but thirsty
holding tight ready money
hot
flushed
and
sweaty
flung
undone
in
a
bottle shop almost closing
on
the long road to Euston

NATURES FOOLS 4

i let the lawn creep up the old furniture
in
a lazy experiment
till
company
comes
with tins and bottles
and
starts whining
as
the
bugs
eat our office white legs

its for biodiversity i say
and
we
drink into the night
rubbing
deet
everywhere
and
counting stars and blinking satelites
till
we've
scratched
our
ankles
raw

NATURE FOOLS 3

outdoors gentle mess of green
is
tangled into soft knots
for
our
sunday strolls poetry and painting
but
doesnt
care
that we're locked in and logged on
watching
shows
where
nobodies exibit their faults with awful pride
and
doesnt
care
about the lines we drew in the cheap cement with triple glazing
or
about
our squeals when theyre crossed
by
spring sleet on summer sleeves
dashing
from the Subaru to the salon
or
by
the
function creep

NATURE FOOLS 2

we
dodge the coughs of the Great Outdoors
hiding
our
heads in hoods
from
the
pretty rain
falling
in
harmless
ballet
until
our sound affects
are
  out
    of
      sync

a B movie beast
  plastic

  heartless

BACK PORCH PHILOSOPHY

at the back porch

creaking
dripping

its a grey dawn
like the night holds a grudge
and
birds sing seamlessly
and
the
evergreens
shine
dull
with night rain

i have cigarette and a think -

i've got this far
yes
i've got this far
deep
into the fart of darkness

or -

i'm sick
therefore
i am

and i think that'll do for now
as
my
bowels
are
begining to quake
and
they always have words
more profound and relevant
than
i

NATURE FOOL 1

we'd rather
sit
on
our
parquet
and
deep pile
under insulated roofs
with
our
electric tickles
and
dry wall distractions
missing
all
the
essential
information
that
hangs
on the scented air

SO

i go walk barefoot
on
my
frosty
lawn ...

MONDAY 8.30 AM (later i will bore the union reps)

monday
8.30 AM

HR meeting
so
i'm
already sipping coffee number three

barely here at all . . .

corner office
and
the
living faces shine too bright
with
pregnancy and enthusiasm and dutiful compassion
all
HD
and
blinding

i want to cry out -
its
TOO EARLY !

. . . the meeting is just WORDS
rattling
like
pebbles
on
a
loose
highway black top

i ask half-questions
to
strange looks
and
the
future takes its shape
as
always
thru omissions and accidents
and
bad
timing

MONDAY 8 AM (LITTLE EGG)

monday
8.00 AM

a loose chocolate egg rolls around the bus floor
at
the
mercy
of corners and morning feet
its
colourful wrapper no help to him now

out of the frying pan
little egg
and into the fire

there is
no discernible definition in the uniform sky today
tho
the
suns
grey ghostly glow
seems
to
fake
wisdom and poignancy at me
and
i
let
myself be pointlessly transfixed

playing
his
game

EMPTY HAND HELL

because of personal theories
about
floating
up
and
away
and
off the world

and
going where all the lost balloons go

and
an existential need
to
hold
similar
flesh
tightly

i must hold her hand fast
before
sleep
comes

what hell it was
getting
by
before

MY SHIRT HAD HOT ROCK HOLES

my grandad was dying in the hospital

he
had
a
pad
to
write things on
to remember them
but
it was just a few scribbles
he couldnt read back at all

so
he
hid
his
medication from the drs
cos he thought this would help

he
had
me throw it out
and
promised me a new shirt
and

made
a
gun
with
one hand
and finger-shot his temple
with
a
sad
and
desperate pleading smile

VIEW FROM AN ALDI CARPARK

scaffold
holds
skeletons of new flats
in
a
tarpaulin cage
doing
mexican
waves
with the wind
and
old terraces
sit
behind train-set twigs of trees
starving
in
an
after-thought row
and
bending
with
screen direction

painted
waiting
places
with
the
tv on
under
a
sky
coloured like bruises

CONCRETE OR BIRDSONG

would be easy to say

that
the
day
was dead

and
that i sat there dead

  like concrete

and
that
day is a naked and sober stale crust
dead
in
black water

but
instead
i listened and i heard
the
hum and cough of the fridge
and
the
whoosh of the pilot light
and
the
tiny splashes of the cat
  drinking his water

all coming together
pretty
as
birdsong

THE FILLING IN A SCHOOL SANDWICH

the child i was
is

filling in a school sandwich

  half eaten

    discarded

but
still
chews
on
his
shirt
collars
  in the photograph slides

i am a giant grown on his shoulder

  host
  to
  his
  museum

and
he'll
nudge
me
on
sunday afternoons
when
the
world
is
quiet

and ask me who i am

or
he'll tap my back
when
i
forget
my
medication
and
cold sweats drain existence and credibility

DREAM ANNEX

this morning is another country

i suspect a silent coup
or
creeping transient borders

i declared something in the night

something
newly
contraband

subsequently
i was searched by dreams

and
i
wake
up

sore

wondering
if salt and vinegar
still
come
in
blue ?

ANOTHER SMEARED PHOTOCOPY

like
a smeared photocopy from the filthy back tray
another
day starts itself
heavy
with
international misdeeds
but
light
with
front yard birds
bickering brightly on the bushes
and
flat white sideways sun
that
glints
like
glitter
on the
icing sugar
someone dusted over the world
while i slept
dreaming of long dead neighbours
their
garden
stacked high with dinosaur bones
i'd
kick
around in anger
after
they drove away
bags packed
and
on
the run
