CAT LEARNING

going out 
to
the
garden
to
relax
in nature - watch the bushes not move
and
the
silent
animals
crawl past ignoring me

that sort of thing

i take a book
a couple of cds and a player - headphones
sunglasses
chilled filtered water
coffee pot
and a small enamel cup
my hardback artist sketch book
i use for poems
a cheap pen i bought in Sainsburys
a hat in case of sun
and a thick check shirt in case of chill
and
my
tobacco

i stretch out on the recliner
the cat pads past
and
sits
on
the warm cracked concrete
and
gazes down the garden 
his
front paws crossed

i look at him - hes got NOTHING
and
he
sits
so
CALM

i look at all i bought out
just
to
sit
and
relax - silly human !  i kick my shoes off
and
ignore
it
all - go sit next to the cat and gaze down the garden
with
NOTHING

i wear the sunglasses - i reckon
theyre
the
only
thing
the cat
would
use of mine if he could
